A NIGHT AT STARDUST DISCOTHEQUE (circa 1986)

"A Night at the Stardust Discotheque" was a tape I found in the Pigalle section of Paris being sold by some dirty old man in a shoe shop around 6 years ago. I think he wanted like 10 euro for it, but I knocked him down to 5. The cover itself was immediately interesting to me being it composed of three Asian men dressed in futuristic dojo outfits standing in a psychedelic disco. After some further investigation I learned that this was a DJ mix tape from a discotheque in Jakarta, Indonesia called "Stardust" circa 1986. The music contained therein was a great mix of some well known and not so well known Italo-Disco, Euro-Synth and early Freestyle. Highlights are many. I encourage you to listen to the entire thing.

This has been a great companion throughout my travels and here I humbly offer it to you.

HEAVY ON THE COLOGNE- SCHULTZ FM #4

Welcome to the month of March! In this episode of Schultz FM, we decided to pay homage to the northern Germany dance masters of Cologne and Hamburg. Blissed out, psychedelic and rubbery tracks mostly from the Ladomat 2000 and Kompakt camps. The only exception would be the wonderful Skull Valley song who are actually from Arizona (it fit nicely into the set!). Standouts on this mix are the Fa track and the Andreas Dorau remix. So take a step into the chill out room, relax and listen to these pleasant throbbers either at home, or while skiing down that perfect mountain.

A brand new mix brought to you by Interferon Radio and Actual Jakshun. This one focuses on a loose theme of some choice E.B.M./New Beat/Acid crossover material. Essential stuff! The relentless pounding kicks and grinding bass oscillations that we all know and love primarily came out of Belgium with Antler-Subway Records leading the way. A.J. lovingly picked out some deep cuts that draws a nice line from New Beat to Acid to crossover rave styles. My favorite track on this is the 'Umo Dectic' cut. Watch the end for a little surprise!
